Counselor: Must be at least 14 years old by January 1, 2026, and no older than 19 years old by September 30, 2026.
Counselor-in-Training (CIT): Must be at least 13 years old by June 21, 2026, and must turn 14 after January 1, 2026.
Note: Youth in the CIT age range may choose to participate as either a CIT or a traditional camper.
Transition Point: Once a youth turns 14 (by the Jan 1 cutoff), they are no longer eligible to be campers and must apply as counselors.
Campers are youth ages 9-14. Registration for 2026 will open in the late winter/early spring.
4-H Camp Information
Fairfax County 4-H camp is held at the Northern Virginia 4-H Center, this overnight camp is for campers ages 9-13, as well as an opportunity for high schoolers to become counselors. Camp offers several classes choices for the week. Our five day, four night camp, provides a learning experience that will last a lifetime.
Fairfax County 4-H provides a leadership opportunity to teen volunteers 14 and up to serve as camp counselors. These teens, as well as adult volunteers, 4-H staff, complete trainings and are tested on core concepts before camp. Our staff is trained according to the American Camp Association requirements. You can rest assured that your child will have a safe, enjoyable experience at 4-H Camp!
